Micro Energy Day 2012

On June 21st NiPS will celebrate the third Micro-Energy Day as part of the activities in the ZEROPOWER Coordination Action!
The initiative is presented in www.microenergyday.eu and is part of the initiatives organized during the 2012 European Sustainable Energy Week.
Join us in Perugia, Barcelona, Wuerzburg and Delft to celebrate the importance of the microenergies in our daily life.

Microenergies are all those energies that are often disregarded as unimportant but instead play a significant role in our daily life. As an example… when you run out of battery in your mobile phone and really need to make that call !!! The amount of energy involved in this case is really very small compared to the energy that makes your car going but its absence appears to be very important to you…

In Perugia: join us in Piazza IV Novembre or at Percorso Verde at 17:00 and get your micro-energy balloon!

ZEROPOWER Strategic Research Agenda

The ZEROPOWER Consortium prepared a new Research Agenda for “ICT-Energy” roadmapping, which includes strategic objectives, identification of research drivers and measures for assessment.
Download the Research Agenda.

Specifically, important points in the research agenda are:
1. Strategic research objectives, application needs and technical criteria
2. Individuation and promotion of promising innovative device concepts for low-power autonomous devices
3. Detailed comparison of proposed device concepts with existing technologies (via existing or new benchmarks)
4. Positioning in relation to “Beyond Moore”, “More Moore” and “More Than Moore” approaches with specific
reference to energy issues
5. Monitoring novel conceptual approaches representing radical departures from the mainstream
6. Market opportunities
7. Obstacles, to be overcome, to rapid and low-cost product development
8. Standardization issues
9. Public and private investments in Europe (programs, funding, projects, etc.)
10. Ethical and societal impact – public awareness and involvement
11. SMEs and start-ups involvement
12. Comparative analysis with the state of the art in the USA and Far East (strengths, weaknesses,
opportunities, funding, etc.)
